Oh, this .... is funny

I often think about what my kids are learning from me.

Here is what makes me chuckle.

Whoa

SO, I guess I'm trying to get past this blog for the moment ... hA!

Although I know as I go forward, there will be things linked here, like this one about a kid in Markham with TB, that I will use.

and then there's this one about e-coli in Peel.

Right now, though, I'm just trying to keep to the middle ground.

Monday May 9

OK, so I got almost everything marked on the Friday - I say that because a bunch of material is coming in now that I have shown people their marks for the module.

Finny how that works.

In any case, here is a picture from my workout on Saturday:

The class will continue work on Unit Five with readings today on Stages of Infancy and finishing off Andromeda Strain, the film from 1971... it's awesome, (fist pumps) yo!

The bitter end

Well, unit four is due ... and I have five of nine students handing it in on time...

And, I'm. waiting. For. The. Presentations. To. Begin.

I'd like to get on with it.

Can we get on with it?

Let's get on with it.

We're almost done, we're almost at the bitter end.

Thursday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday .... and the exam Friday.

That's it.

May 3

Today was the last day of Unit Four - and we did a film study of Deep Impact; after that we watched a short clip from Wonders of the Solar System, in which the Professor explained just how the events in the film might actually happen...

You're welcome for that, man.

The we watched a snipped from Neil deGrasse Tyson explaining about how the events in the film 2012 will not happen.

The film study is the last thing due for unit four.

Get it done.

Oh, and here's a picture of my brain... appearing like a walnut:

Friday April 29

The last day of April. Seriously ... I know it really ISN'T the last day of April, but it's close enough for me... last working day of April, so that's that.

What are we doing today? Well ... here we go ...

We need to give some time to taking up the homework from yesterday.

We need some time for you to work on your First Aid Booklet ... a good chunk of time. There is a lot on the internet to help you with this one. Access that stuff, man!

We also need to do the sign ups for Task Two presentations; they start on Monday!

Finally, we need to wind the week down with starting a film study for the unit that revolves around Health Promotion and Safety... hmmm ... I think I got one.... should be a good show!

If you don't have a choice for a topic for your presentation, or Unit Three not homework handed in, I found this website that might help ... he he he he he he ...

Thursday April 28

So ... what are we doing today?

First things first ... unit test on Unit Three "Stewardship and Mental Health" ... yeah, weird name. I get that a lot.

Well, you need to work on the questions for the film we watched yesterday - were taking them up today.

Then you need to grab a pen and a piece of paper for the PPT were doing. Riveting stuff, man..

After that, you should be working on your First Aid booklet...

I also read this article about getting sleep instead of trying to "pull all-nighters"

Oh, and a prayer... it sometimes works, too:

Beannacht, John O'Donahue

On the day when
the weight deadens
on your shoulders
and you stumble,
may the clay dance
to balance you.
And when your eyes
freeze behind
the grey window
and the ghost of loss
gets in to you,
may a flock of colours,
indigo, red, green,
and azure blue
come to awaken in you
a meadow of delight.

When the canvas frays
in the currach of thought
and a stain of ocean
blackens beneath you,
may there come across the waters
a path of yellow moonlight
to bring you safely home.

May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of light be yours,
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow
wind work these words
of love around you,
an invisible cloak
to mind your life.

Also saw this article about working out ... seems pretty basic. But I'm also finding that the workouts that are the most basic are some of the best ones to do.
